Rodney Douglas Munro

After a valiant battle, passed away peacefully at University Hospital, on Thursday, October 12th, 2017, at the age of 78, surrounded by his loving family. Rod was predeceased by his dearly beloved best friend and wife of 48 years Marian (Currie). Proud father to Brian (Nancy) and Cheryl (Bob) and superman to his granddaughters Allix and Taylor. Son of the late Russell and Lillian Munro and proud big brother to Bradley (Ildi), Alan and Marion. Brother-in-law to Jane Munro, Eva McLean (Doug), John and Mona Currie and Arthur and Shirley Currie. Proud uncle to his many nieces and nephews. Rod followed in the footsteps of his mother and father with a wonderful career at London Life, where he made lifelong friendships. Like Marian, Dad was happiest when surrounded by family. He was always the guy to bring levity to a situation, which helped all to persevere through his many health challenges. Thank you Dr. Karen Lo and the wonderful staff at McGarrell Place, and a special thank you to Mary Anne MacPherson for the dedication, care and friendship provided to Dad over the last two years. Friends will be received at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Sunday, October 15th from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. A private family service will be held at a later date. Donations can be made, in Rod’s memory, to Diabetes Canada.

Cheryl, I was sorry to hear of your dad's passing. I lost my dad just a few years ago. It's not easy. If you need anyone to talk to, you know I'm here. My thoughts are with you at this most difficult time.
Brian & family, So sorry to hear of your Dad's passing. When I did my first HR placement during school, I worked a summer at London Life. Your Dad was one of the first persons I met. I worked under his direction for half that summer. He was a true professional and mentored me in his area of expertise, something that I learned a great deal from. On behalf of my brothers Brian and Barry and my sister Jerilou, I would like to express our condolences to the Munro family. We will always remember Rodney's warm smile and good nature. Our prayers are with you all.
Cheryl, I extend my sympathy to you and your family at this difficult time. Your dad was a joy to work with at London Life, and will be missed by all.
Brian and Cheryl, I am so sorry for your loss. Your dad was a great man. He always used to call me Fred, which I never understood as a child but it made me smile. I remember most your dad always had a smile on his face whenever I saw him. There are too many memories of your dad to share here. Keep close the memories you have for they will serve you well through this difficult time. I hope you both can find some comfort in the fact that your parents are back together again watching over both of you.
To Cheryl and Brian: Please accept my condolences on the passing of your dad. As a former neighbour of yours, I always enjoyed chatting with Rod when we met each other walking in neighbourhood. I also knew Rod through my work years at London Life were he was so well regarded by his many friends and co-workers. He was always an outgoing and happy person who had many friends in the community. I am glad to be able to count myself as one. Peace be with you.
Rod was a delightful man and a wonderful neighbour to us. We miss him deeply.
Good bye my dear friend. I loved our visits and chats. Your sincere caring and very wise wisdom made such a difference in my life. You became a very dear friend to me and I will never forget our times. Who you are is truly reflected in your amazing daughter! Well done Rod.. Well done!

Brian and Cheryl please accept my condolences on your fathers passing. He was a great guy and l remember him always washing and waxing his cars. As he always had the cleanest cars in the neighbourhood. Cherish the memories that you have.
