Ronald ‘Ron’ Douglas Shantz

Passed away peacefully, with his loving family by his side, on Sunday, July 28, 2019 at St. Joseph’s Hospice in London, Ontario, after a courageous battle with esophageal cancer.
Ron was born June 23, 1948 and is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Gwen (Bristow); daughters Melissa (Richard) and Tara (Andrew); son, Brian (Rachelle); seven grandchildren; and his sister Verda Keays (Gary). Predeceased by his parents, Harry and Wilma.
Ron was a life-long resident of the Hyde Park area and enjoyed golfing as well as spending time with friends at his “No Short Cut” shop.
The family wishes to sincerely thank all the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London for their exceptional care, compassion and kindness. Words cannot express how thankful we are.
In keeping with Ron’s wishes, cremation has taken place and there will be no visitation or funeral. A Celebration of Ron’s Life will be held at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations to St. Joseph’s Hospice, London would be appreciated by the family.

Verda and family, I am sorry to read of Ron's passing. It has been so many years since I have seen Ron but I always look into his property when passing by. Ron was a good friend during our school days at SS#17 and Medway. Friendships made in a small town have a special spot in our hearts.
