Betty Ann and Family. We are saddened to hear of Roy's sudden passing. Although we only had the opportunity to meet a few times we were always struck by the love and warmth that radiated within your household. Roy was the ultimate gentleman, one conversation with him and it was like you knew him for years. May your love of family hold you tight and help you through this time. Our sincere condolences.

Mrs. Smith and Family. We would like to send our sincerest condolences on the passing of Mr. Smith. He was a dedicated London Firefighter for many years and enjoy it to the fullest. Mostly his love, dedication and loyalty to his family was the most important thing to him! He was a fantastic husband, father and Grandfather! Always having the time to do everything and anything those crazy girls got him into! There are lots of stories to be told about the annual Boxing Day Sale at Kingsmills! He always had time to sit and visit whenever you popped by. I was honoured to be part of numerous family occasions and he made you feel right at home! Mr. Smith will be missed so very much by his family and friends!! I can tell you he will be playing sports up there and that hip won't be bothering him one bit! He has certainly earned his wings!! He will be always watching over the family, and he will forever be in the hearts of those he touched!!

Roy was the first DC that I met as a Volunteer Firefighter after annexation. I worked with him also as a DC and PC after joining the LFD full time. He was a great man, firefighter and Chief. RIP Brother

Betty, Vick, Susan, Kristen and the rest of the wonderful Smith clan and extended family, We are so deeply saddened to hear of Roy's loss. He was a true gem....an example of what humanity should strive for....kind, caring, giving to family and others, and a great sense of humour. I will never forget how Roy helped host a pre-teen backyard Halloween party ...and dressing the role. That will always make me smile! He will be in our hearts always. We were so sorry to hear this sad, sad, news. We loved Uncle Roy very much and always had lots of laughs. He will be greatly missed and our thoughts are with Aunt Betty, Sue, Kris, Vickie and their families. Love Cathy, Mark, Matt and Luke.

Huck & I have fond memories of playing volleyball at Riverside P.S. and laughing - a lot - with Roy and Betty Ann. He was a pleasure to know and will be missed a lot.

As a long-time neighbour of the Smith family, I can attest to the fact that Roy will be missed by all who knew him. I'll remember Roy as a big kid who was always up for sports of all kinds, and wasn't shy about sharing what he had learned with younger people. He gave generously of his time, having coached juvenile hockey with my dad, sometimes as early as 5 am. Besides sports, he was the guy to call on when, say, your basement TV was on fire. Roy took care of that small fire and was a light himself for so many, myself included. My sincerest condolences to Betty, Susan, Kristen, Vicki and the rest of the clan.
