Sincere sympathy to Madeline and family in your loss of Roy from longtime neighbor and friend Marion Denstedt and family.
Dear Madeline, My now former husband and I moved into a property on Coombs Avenue about 11 years ago with our then 3 yr old son. My former husband, Ever, still lives in that home. Our property backed on to the back of your garden. You invited myself and my little boy into your home once to introduce us to you and Roy. Roy gave me an interesting history of the University Heights subdivision. I always enjoyed watching him survey the neighbourhood on his bicycle to ensure all was well. And, I recall he would find a way to eliminate ground hogs from digging in your garden. Too, like you, I am a member of Colborne Street United Church where I saw you a few times in the last few years. I'm very sorry for your loss of such an interesting "character" you had in your life for decades. I extend condolences on behalf of Ever, Curtis and myself.
It is with sadness that we have learned of uncle Roy's passing. He and aunt Madeline were an integral part of our big family. While I was growing up with my family, visiting Uncle Roy's home, which was right on the outskirts of London at that time, was a frequent Sunday family event. His house has not moved but the city limit now extends miles to the North and West. Their extensive travels with the streamline trailer and and later, motor home made for some very interesting travelogues during later visits in my life. Uncle Roy cared for people and helped many folks in his later years by developing an exercise sliding device to use during knee surgery or replacement rehabilitation . I am a recipient of one such device and it has been shared with others in the Parry sound area. Thank you Uncle Roy. You will be missed but will remain in my fond memories always. Danny
