Ruth Jarmain

April 15, 2021

Passed away suddenly at home, on Thursday, April 15, 2021, at the age of 94. She will be deeply missed by her children, Janice (Ken Savoy), Michael, John (Maddalena); cherished grandsons, Calan Savoy, and Elliot Jarmain (Alisha Oliver); sister, Ila McInroy; and extended family, and many friends. Predeceased by her husband, Ted (1998); her son, Doug (2008); her parents, May and Fred Sullivan; her sister, Margery; and her brothers, Donald and Lawrence. Ruth’s devotion to her family was as unconditional as it was endless. She was never happier than when she was surrounded by her children and grandsons. She maintained many enduring friendships throughout her life: lifelong friends, friends from Zellers where she worked, and friends on Windermere where she lived in later years. Ruth’s uncanny ability to compromise and collaborate in a selfless way was an inspiration to all. She helped to provide the ties that bind among family, friends, and the many organizations with which she was involved. Ruth was extremely capable at whatever she set her hand to. She was an excellent cook, decorator, seamstress, and euchre player. She will be forever remembered for her strength, kindness, generosity, and the twinkle in her eye. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic restrictions, a service will not be held at this time. Cremation has taken place and a private family interment of ashes will be held at Oakland Cemetery, Delaware. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ruth are asked to consider the Heart and Stroke Foundation of Canada.

I met Ruth through euchre and am grateful to have had the chance to know her for a short time. I enjoyed when we ended up as partners; she was encouraging and fun. Beyond that, my encounters with her in the building were always such a delight. Her smile, her attitude, her interest such vibrancy! My warmest condolences to all her family and friends.
