Ruth Laura Stevenson (née Haberer)

January 3, 2022

Peacefully, surrounded by the love of her family at University Hospital in London, Ruth Laura, passed away in her 80th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband and best friend Milo. Deeply loved and cherished by her children Karren (Todd), Jeanette, Sue-Anne (Davin). Adored Nanna of Jake, Karleigh, Sam, Quinton and Theo. Treasured sister of Marilyn Heimrich. Dearest Aunt to Laurie (Phil), Mark (Julie), Dave (Wendy) and many great-nieces and great-nephews. Also predeceased by her parents Helen and Karl Haberer; parents-in-law Jean and Rodger Stevenson; and brother-in-law Ron Heimrich. Ruth was grateful for her long teaching career through which she was able to touch many hearts. Ruth had a strong love of music and gardening and a memorable talent for singing. She enjoyed her time spent with the Colborne Street United Church and its choirs. Ruth’s sense of humour, beautiful laugh and warm presence will be forever missed by those who were lucky enough to know and love her. Special thanks and gratitude for the excellent care and compassion shown to Ruth and family at LHSC – University Hospital. Cremation has taken place. A private funeral service will be conducted on Saturday, January 8, 2022 at 11:00 a.m. at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Interment to take place in the spring. Karren, Jeanette, Sue-Anne & families; Our sincere sympathy in the loss of your dear Mother, my sweet Aunt Ruth. I have so many wonderful memories of family times together with your Mom, and all of us. I also cherish the smaller visits we had together; just your Mom and me, and when your Dad was with us. Your Mother was the most awesome Aunt, great hostess and was always so welcoming and accommodating. I so appreciate the very special, life-long bond that she and my Mom have had as sisters. I can’t say that I ever remember hearing of a time when either one of them said anything, even something small, derogatory about the other! That is truly a rare gift and has been a fine example for all of us. We continue to hold you all in our hearts, thoughts and prayers, as we all go through the morning process with you; especially with the limitations of this pandemic, separating people when they should be together. Even though another link in our family chain has been broken, “we gotta stick together cousins!” We love you all. ❤️ Rest in eternal peace dear Aunt Ruth. ❤️ Mark & Julie, Sarah, Scott & Spencer.
