Ruth Mary Ghantous (née Barrett)

April 14, 2013

Ruth Mary Ghantous (née Barrett)

March 15, 1928 – April 14, 2013

Ruth passed away on Sunday, April 14th, 2013, after suffering a stroke.  She was loved by everyone who knew her, including her husband of 59 years, Nick, and her children Nick (Sue) of Calgary, Bob (Jo-Anne) of London and David (Heidi) of London.  She is also remembered by her grandchildren:  Marc, Steven, Amanda, Dominic and Daniel, and by her sister Annie of Montreal.  In 1959, Polio claimed her ability to walk, but it did not remove her ability to live.  Ruth’s determination allowed her to raise her family and be a contributing member of the community.  She was also a volunteer at Victoria Hospital in London for over 30 years.  Ruth loved her family, and her kindness and humour touched the hearts of everyone she met.  Visitation will be held at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Tuesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m.  The Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. John the Divine Parish, 390 Base Line Road West, London, on Wednesday, April 17th, 2013 at 10:00 a.m.  Interment, St. Peter’s Cemetery.  Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ruth are asked to please consider the Cardiac Fitness Institute.
