Ruth Mary (née Zubick) Besterd
June 2, 2021
Peacefully passed away, at Parkwood Institute on Wednesday, June 2, 2021, at the age of 80. Loving and devoted wife of Norman Lee Besterd. Beloved and compassionate mother of Allyson Stevens, the late Timothy Besterd (Tracy), and the late Paul Besterd (Connie Hester). Proud grandmother of Alexandra Price (Matthew Daniel), Stephanie Price, Braeden Price, Cody Besterd, and Kyle Besterd; great-grandmother of Tatum Daniel, Samuel Daniel, new baby Daniel (arrival expected in July 2021), and Rylee Price. Adored sister of Doris England, Nancey Orosz (Andy), George Zubick (Jill), the late Karen Semenuk (Brent Baer), the late Bruce Zubick (Barb), and Kathy Squires. Predeceased by her parents, Elaine and John Zubick. Ruth was an enthusiastic, spirited and avid world traveler, eagerly and constantly educating herself in all areas of life. Health, the World, and Cooking were just a few of her favourite subjects of study. She particularly loved all of her adventures and road trips with her best friend and sister, Karen Semenuk, and brother-in-law Brent Baer. Ruth was detail-oriented and a patient gift-wrapper. She loved the Food Network, the colour red, Schnauzers, Sudoku, Asian Cuisine, and cruises with her husband. The family would like to thank the nursing staff of the 4th floor Palliative Care Unit at Parkwood Institute for their exceptional care. There will be two visitations held on Tuesday, June 8, 2021, from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. (for family) and from 7:00 – 9:00 p.m. (for friends) at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. My heart aches for the Zubick and Besterd families, it feels like sorrow upon sorrow these past few months. May the words of Psalm 46 bring a sense of peace and hope in this season of grief.

Allyson, my sincere condolences for the loss of your Mom. It has been many years but I always remember her fondly. She was kind to me and loved all of you dearly. Right now I recall her dancing one evening with your Dad in the living room. How she smiled and laughed. But I am shockingly surprised with the loss of Tim and Paul. Again my sincere condolences.
