Shirley Gardiner
July 11, 2015
December 27, 1924 – July 11, 2015
On Saturday, July 11, 2015, Shirley was surrounded by her family as she started her journey to re-unite with the love of her life, Douglas Arthur Gardiner. She was predeceased by her parents, William and Edith Scrivens, of London. Shirley will be forever missed by her daughters and their husbands: Judy and Larry Culford, Janice and Roy Furzer, Jill and Mark Popovich, Joan and Tim Rainville; by her grandchildren: Jonathan (Patti), James (Lindsay), Michael (Melissa), Andrew (Stephanie), Tim (Amanda), Erin, Christopher, Kelly, Jason (Candice), Ryan, Lauren; and her great-grandchildren: William, Noah, Elise and Claire. She will be remembered by her sister Bette and sister-in-law Shirley. The family appreciates the health care professionals who showed her the kindness and dignity she deserved. Thank you to the many staff members and friends at Grand Wood Park Retirement Home who made Mom feel special. To Mom, family was everything and her greatest hope was that we would stay connected after she was gone. We will be forever joined by our love for her and each other. A private family service will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations in Shirley’s name to the Heart & Stroke Foundation or the Canadian Diabetes Association would be appreciated, as these diseases have both impacted our family. A donation to a charity close to your heart would also be appreciated.

I know I will miss her retorts to some of my opinions and the support she gave me through some hard times, she was an amazing person with spirit. Aunt Shirley was always up for a game of cards or the fun things you all did together. i.e.. the men dressing up (she showed me pictures) A beautiful Spirit has left us with wonderful memories.
