Peacefully, at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on Thursday, June 22nd, 2017, in his 89th year. Beloved husband of the late Anne (2012). Loving father of Mary Ann (Ted) Bywater, Richard (Michele), and Margaret (Steve) Gelinas. Cherished Opa of Christopher, Daniel, Samantha, Michael, Matthew, and Jennifer, and great-grandfather of Alicia, Heidi, Blake, and Elizabeth. Predeceased by his brothers Jan and Piet. Cremation has taken place. A graveside service will be held at Mount Pleasant Cemetery on Monday, July 10th, 2017 at 12:00 noon. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Simon are asked to consider St. Joseph’s Hospice, London, the Alzheimer Society London and Middlesex or the Canadian Cancer Society.

Dear Mary Ann, and Fam, My sincere condoleances for the passing of uncle Siem. It's so sad to say goodbye to your father and grandfather. I heard he was very ill, so it was inevitable. Not still a heartbreaking loss. It's Nice that he's been with you for such a long time. I wish lots of strength to you and the family in these difficult times. With love, Mieke
