Stanley (Ross) Dilling

November 19, 1926 - July 6, 2026

It is with our deepest sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Stanley (Ross) Dilling on Monday, July 6, 2026, in his 100th year, after a long and happy life.

Ross was born on November 19, 1926 in Clinton, Ontario, raised near Hensall, Ontario, and was pre-deceased by sister Hazel Stephen (Laurie), brother Cecil Dilling (Doris), niece Donna Stephen and nephew Ray Dilling.

Ross is survived by and will be dearly missed by his nephews Jerry Stephen, Larry Dilling (Janet) and their families.  His loss will be grieved by many.

Ross was employed for over 35 years with Canada Trust and was an early director of the London Community Foundation.  He enjoyed many years singing in barbershop quartets, and his favourite activities were cottage life, woodworking, playing golf, bridge, and bowling.

At Ross’s request, cremation has taken place.  A Celebration of Life will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Thursday, July 16, 2026 from 12:00 – 3:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested that donations be made to the Byron Optimist Sports Complex, the London Community Foundation, or a charity of your choice.

When I read the obit for Mr. Dilling it brought back very old and fond memories of my time working on the 12th floor of Canada Trust. He was a kind and true gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family. Godspeed Ross.

Ross was a true gentleman - I loved hearing about his life, his hobbies which I recently learned, included flying. A life well lived! His Fox Hollow family will miss him and his devoted nephews Jerry and Larry.

Ross was my neighbour across the street. I bought my house 29 years ago. Such a gentleman. Ross certainly will be missed in the neighbourhood as he was an original buyer when these houses were built. Fly on Ross

I met Ross in my favourite restaurant, Morning Bites. Whenever we would encounter each other there after that, I would be greeted by a big smile and a wave. Although we both had hearing difficulties, we enjoyed the conversations we had. I will miss him!

I met Ross in my favourite restaurant, Morning Bites. Each time I saw him at the restaurant with Jerry, he’d greet me with a big smile and a wave. Both of us had difficulties hearing, but it was easy to see he enjoyed the effort. I miss seeing him there!
