Stephen James Patrick “Stevo” Redmond
September 10, 2026
Stephen James Patrick Redmond, affectionately known as “Stevo” passed away peacefully in his sleep, with his beloved wife Shelly by his side, on September 10, 2026, following a courageous four-and-a-half-year battle with prostate cancer.
Steve leaves behind Shelly, his wife and partner of 42 years, and their daughters, Jackie Redmond (Emmett Blois) and Marcy Thomas (Reid Thomas). He was the enormously proud PopPop to his twin grandsons, Tanner and Taylor, who brought him immeasurable joy.
Steve was predeceased by his parents, Carl John Redmond and Ethel Margaret Snooks, and his brother Kenny. He is survived by his siblings Ronnie “Mickey,” Gerry, Robert “Chip,” and Carolyn, along with an extended family of relatives and friends who will miss him dearly.
Above all, Steve adored Shelly. Through 42 years of marriage, he was her biggest fan. He was fiercely proud of her, endlessly supportive and always encouraging her to chase her own dreams. Their partnership was built on love, laughter and a deep admiration for one another, and there was never any question that Shelly was the love of his life.
To describe Steve simply as a devoted husband, father and grandfather would somehow still fall short. To those who knew and loved him, he was simply “Stevo.” He had an extraordinary zest for life and a rare ability to find genuine joy in ordinary moments. A lifelong hockey lover and die-hard Toronto Maple Leafs and Blue Jays fan, Steve loved a good game, but he loved the people he watched it with even more.
People were, in many ways, Steve’s great passion. He was endlessly curious about them. Neighbours, old friends, new friends, the person sitting beside him at the local pub. Steve wanted to know you, talk to you, laugh with you and probably tell you a story or two. When Steve was with you, he was truly with you. He made people feel welcome, interesting and important, and his warmth, humour and unmistakable presence drew people to him everywhere he went.
Steve made the most of the life in front of him. Whether it was a conversation in the garage, a hockey game, a drink at the pub or time with the people he loved, he had a way of making ordinary moments feel special.
His family will miss his stories, his laughter and his larger-than-life presence beyond words. Most of all, they will miss the husband, Dad, PopPop and friend who made life more fun simply by being in it.
Visitation will take place Thursday, September 17, from 12:00–3:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home, 709 Wonderland Road North, London. Stevo left a beautiful mark on anyone who had the privilege to meet him. I will forever cherish the bond we had, he was more than just an uncle to me. He was very important to me and brought me immense amount of joy every visit I had with him. I will never forget all the memory’s, belly laughs, and fun times I shared with Stevo. I will miss him dearly and continue taking on life as he would want me too; having fun, partying hard… and having a few too many…#pints.
