Stephen (Steve) Robert Davey

Stephen Robert Davey passed away peacefully at LHSC on Friday, October 2, 2026 at the age of 68.  He is survived by his siblings Gregory, Marlene Botnick (Joseph), and Lorraine Torresan (Graziano), as well as many nieces and nephews, and great-nephews.

Steve was predeceased by his grandparents, Raymond and Dorothy Stevens (2007, 2016); his father Robert Davey (2016); his mother Patricia Davey (2025); his uncles, Robert Stevens and Larry Stevens (2002, 2024), and his nephew, Nathaniel Torresan (2021).

Stephen was born in Kitchener, Ontario on August 1, 1958, but lived the majority of his life in London, Ontario.  Known as Steve to his family, he preferred the name Sam among friends and acquaintances.

Steve worked as a projectionist for many years, following in the career footsteps of his beloved Grandad.  He had many interests and enjoyed a wide variety of hobbies throughout his life, including photography, motorcycles, pipe organ repairs and rebuilds, clay pigeon and target shooting (he was a member of the local gun club), dabbling with computers, collecting vintage clocks and radios, propagating houseplants, reading, old movies, and classical music, to name just a few.  He had a passion for cycling.  In his younger years, Steve was also a musician, playing piano and organ, baritone, and guitar.

He adored his pet cats over the years, who were cherished members of his family.

Steve always loved family gatherings and celebrations, no matter the occasion.  He enjoyed the lives of his nieces and nephews, and his eight great-nephews.

Steve was a joy to all who were blessed to know him.  He was tremendously generous to everyone – family, friends, and even strangers in need.  Although the last few years were a struggle for Steve, he could still find joy in the small things and opportunities to laugh.

Steve has left this world far too soon.

“For the Lord sees not as man sees:  man looks at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”

1 Samuel 16:7

His light will continue to shine in the hearts of all who were blessed to know him.

“Because of the Lord’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassion’s never fail.  They are new every morning, great is your faithfulness.”

Lamentations 3:22 – 23

Cremation has taken place and an inurnment will take place at a future date at St. Peter’s Cemetery to honour Stephen’s life.
