Theobald ‘Ted’ Kluge

Ted, the bricklayer, avid gardener and host of “The Corn Roast”, died peacefully, at University Hospital, London, on Saturday, July 4th, 2015. Born in 1928 to German settlers in Poland, Ted was forced to join the German army at age 16, subsequently losing 5 years of his life as a prisoner of war in a Russian labour camp. He sought freedom from his past by immigrating to Canada at age 25 and married Cecilia Libal, a German emigrant with an equally painful war experience, in 1955. Saved by the grace of God, Ted was truly set free in 1969. In 1994, he buried Cecilia, whom he called “Cuda” (Polish for miracle) and in 1996, he remarried Opal Van Alstine. Ted is survived by Opal; by his children: Cornel (Rose), of Saskatoon, Helen (David) Overholt, of Hamilton, Andrew (Martina), of Valdivia, and Doris (Victor) Cherniak, of St. George. Will be missed by 7 grandchildren; by step-children: Sherry (Dave) Patterson, Brent Van Alstine, Harry (Linda) Van Alstine, Holly Jones, Mark (Kathy) Van Alstine and Clive (the late Eva) Van Alstine, and their families, from the Ottawa Valley area; and by 3 of his 6 siblings. Visitation will be held on Wednesday from 2:00 – 4:00 and 7:00 – 9:00 p.m., as well as one hour prior to the service, at the WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, where the funeral will be conducted on Thursday, July 9, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Ted are asked to consider The Salvation Army London Village, in appreciation of their dementia day program.
His last battle won —————- Now with the Lord.

We will miss seeing Theo strolling the grounds of our condo complex - he will be remembered as a kind, friendly neighbour!
My sympathies are with you Opal at this time. He suffers no more but blooms in the house of the Lord. May he find peace, free of pain and his earthly bounds. May you find peace knowing he is with God now. Love always Aunt Opal. If I don't get up please know I'm with you in spirit.

I'm sorry for the loss of your dear loved one, Theobald, you are not alone and may you be comforted from the God of all comfort, Jehovah, thru his word the holy bible at Psalms 34:18: "Jehovah is close to the brokenhearted; He saves those who are crushed in spirit." God's word says at Isaiah 25:8: "He will swallow up death forever, And the Sovereign Lord Jehovah will wipe away the tears from all faces....." God's word also says at John 5:28,29: "Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out, those who did good things to a resurrection of life, and those who practiced vile things to a resurrection of judgement." This is what God's Kingdom under Jesus Christ rulership is going to accomplish for all those who love righteousness. God's word says at Psalms 37:29: "The righteous will possess the earth, And they will live forever on it." www.jw.org
We are deeply saddened and yet we know that Ted is in a far better place. he certainly has left many with precious memories, a dear brother who loved the Lord and loved His people. My aunt (Amy Gray) always looked forward to the corn roasts and would tell me all about it. Our prayers are with all those who mourn this loss as we await the shout that will reunite us in that coming day.
Remembering the corn roasts ... we will miss this Gentle Man. In our prayers for all the family. Deepest Sympathies.

With warmth and great love and respect - we send our condolences. We were saddened by the news of Onkel Theo's passing. While we did not spend a great deal of time together over the years - the memories that we do have will stay with us forever; from the early days at our cottage in the Whiteshell, Manitoba with Oma Kluge, to your road trip to my wedding in Vancouver. These moments are very special to me and my entire family. Particularly mom. And they will be treasured, always. A very special man, and family. We send our love to you all.
