Todd Marquis McConnell

January 2, 2022

January 22, 1965 – January 2, 2022

Todd Marquis McConnell breathed his last breath in the early morning of January 2, 2022, after a brave and courageous battle with lung cancer, surrounded by his family. Todd was 56.

He will be very greatly and dearly missed by his wife Claire, sons Tyson and Nate, and stepsons, Kaden and Lane. He will be lovingly remembered by his brothers Michael (Sue), Peter (Debra) and nieces and nephews.

Born on January 22, 1965 to parents, the late John and Lucille, Todd spent his life in London, Ontario and had several careers, including CAMI Automotive and eventually, running his own business. For the last 25 years, he was known to many as “The Dent Guy”. For some, he will always be fondly remembered as “Tidley” and to others, as “Toad”.

Todd was a dedicated and devoted husband, father and brother, and his family meant everything to him.

Todd would want to be remembered as someone who embraced life and never took life for granted.

He enjoyed many things in life: like his motorcycles, motorcycle racing (watching and participating); his cars (he was a speed and sports vehicle enthusiast); preparing delicious food and drinks for others; playing his guitar; spending time tinkering in his garage; and being with family and friends.

With his easy-going attitude, Todd lived his life to the fullest. He was thoughtful and got along with everyone. Todd was a bright force in the world and people were drawn to him. This is evident in the countless lives he touched and the many dear friends he has, some since childhood, that were an important part of his life, every day. He always took the time to listen and was a true friend to many. He was a kind and thoughtful man, one of honour and integrity. Todd had a sense of humour and enjoyed bringing laughter, encouragement and smiles to others.

Even in recent, very difficult days, he still managed to share a smile, make a joke, to be thankful, kind and make new friends.

His family would like to say a very sincere thank you to all of the medical personnel at the LRCP, LHSC, St. Elizabeth Nursing, Dr. I. Dhaliwal and staff, Dr. D. Breadner and staff, Dr. M. Parent and Dr. G. Kim, VON Nursing and the many other kind and wonderful nurses who took such good care of him.

We will cherish our memories of Todd and he will be missed every day, from now, until the end of time.

Cremation has taken place and a private family service will be conducted at Westview Funeral Chapel.

In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Todd are asked to consider the London Regional Cancer Program or The Salvation Army.

I am truly saddened and shocked to hear Todd had passed away. I went to high school with Todd and have a lot of great memories. Our lives took different paths, but we always ran into each other every so often and it seemed as no time had passed and he always made me smile. My thoughts are with his family.

Dear Nate and family, You know I will miss your dad. We knew each other from public school and were fortunate to cross paths in the automotive world where we saw each other weekly for over 2 decades. I called him Dents Unlimi-Todd. He was sunshine, on a cloudy day. Long hair, don't care. Work boots and shorts. Always there when needed. So very sorry for your loss. Carmen Jones

What a wonderful father and friend. You were always there to lend an ear too. I valued our personal and business relationship. Our children went to the same pubic school. I remember snowmobiling, ping pong. Floor hockey concerts and NASCAR, you were so competitive but at the end of the evening we would talk about our children and how proud you were of your sons achievements. Todd we love you my friend, I know your looking down on all of us. God Bless

We first met Todd and Claire when they invited our family to share Thanksgiving with their family at their home in Komaka. We are related through Todd's brother Peter- his daughter is our daughter-in-law. Todd and Claire were warm and inviting hosts and we shared an wonderful meal. We then spent a few Christmas dinners with the family. Lots of fun. So sorry for your loss Claire, Peter and family.

My condolences to Claire and the rest of the family. Todd was a man that I got to know later in life and came to realize he was an exceptional person. There's not too many people that you can spend 23 hours riding in a vehicle with to Cape Breton and get along without any issues. Going to miss chasing you around the track and the food you would have prepared for us there.
