Victor John Nantais

Victor John Nantais, of Komoka, Ontario, passed away peacefully in his 66th year on Friday, August 21, 2026, at Strathroy General Hospital, with his beloved wife Christine Nantais and his children by his side. During the months leading to his passing, he faced his journey with immense courage, grace, dignity, and gratitude.  For the duration of his illness, he was surrounded by the love of his family and friends.

A consummate family man, more than anything, Victor’s life was defined by his devotion and dedication to his family. He was the beloved husband and partner to Christine Nantais for 28 wonderful years. Vic was a loving and dedicated father, leaving behind a legacy of love in his children: Laura Dawe (Michael Pivar), Taylor Dawe (Sara), Corina Nantais (Brian Kielstra), Heather Dawe (Dave Lunman), Kaye Nantais (Angeline Fernandes), and Celine Nantais (Isaac Robinson). He was also “Poppa V” or “Grampa” to his ten adored grandchildren.

Victor was born in Windsor, Ontario, on May 23, 1961. He was the third of five children born to loving parents Elton and Doris Nantais, who predeceased him. Victor is survived by his sister Valerie McCourt (Lyle Kernighan) and his brothers Gordon Nantais (Jane Armstrong), Glen Nantais (Lisa), and Kenneth Nantais (Karen). Vic spent his youth in Windsor, Orillia, and Kitchener-Waterloo, surrounded by excitement and the love of his family. On any given day, it wasn’t unusual to find a group in the driveway working on cars, or inside the family home playing board games.

Building on his talent for machinery and mathematics, Victor went on to build a successful career as an injection mould maker. He later utilized his skills at Formet Industries in St. Thomas where, after 25 years of service, he retired in February 2025. It is a well-known fact that there wasn’t anything Vic couldn’t build or fix.

Victor was a dynamic, optimistic, and multi-faceted man who squeezed every ounce of joy from his life. Vic was always ready for an adventure, whether it be a trip to the Caribbean, dropping an ice-fishing line, driving his beloved muscle cars, or picking away at his guitar. In his down time, Vic was a history enthusiast who enjoyed watching war movies or documentaries, which aligned closely with his interest in aviation; having earned his leisure craft pilot’s license in his younger years. An avid outdoorsman, Vic had a true love for nature, from boating, fishing, and camping to tending his yard, feeding the birds, caring for his beloved cats, or helping stranded animals to safety.

A visitation will be held at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, September 12, 2026 from 11:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., followed by a funeral service to honour Victor’s life and luncheon.
