Virginia ‘Gin’ Oke (née Pelechaty)
June 24, 1932 - March 29, 2022
Her spirit sighed and her smile relaxed. It is with profound sadness we announce the passing of Gin Oke at St. Joseph’s Hospice, London on Tuesday, March 29, 2022, in her 89th year.
Gin was born June 24, 1932, in Vilna, Alberta and she married William (Bill) Oke, 70 years ago on February 16, 1952, in London, Ontario. Dear mother of Debra Mitchell (Scott), Donna Oatman, Scott Oke, Wayne Oke, Cindy Bryson (Scott) and Paul Oke. She will be sadly missed by her 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
She is predeceased by her son Paul Oke (1975) and grandson Brian Mitchell (2021).
Every good story starts with “Once Upon a Time…” time wrote her story but she created her place in that time. We will miss her smile, her flair for style, her love of life, her excitement for travel, her courage and generous spirit. In her death through the tears of sadness, she will continue to bring smiles to the faces of family and friends in the many stories we share.
Cremation has taken place with a private family interment at St. Peters Cemetery. Friends are invited to join us to celebrate her life at Westview Funeral Chapel, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to St. Joseph’s Hospice of London, 485 Windermere Road, P.O. Box 1449 Station B, London ON N6A 5M2 or a charity of your choice.

Hi Bill!...our prayers and thoughts are with you and your family on Ginny’s passing!....regret that we are vacationing out of province and thus unable to attend the service.......although we had infrequent social happenings over the years, Ginny was always a delight to be around....., your cousin, Jack
Sending all my love to your family during these hard times. I met sweet Gin at Costco as she did her daily walks through the store. She would stop and chat with me almost every day. She had such a vibrant smile & way of making me laugh till I couldn’t stop. She had such a positive impact on many at Costco & we always loved seeing her. Im thankful for the friendship we had.
Dear Bill and family, My Mom ( Barb Wilson) thoroughly enjoyed her friendship with Gin in Florida and when Mom came to London. After Mom’s passing I was able to enjoy Gin’s company with outings and coffee. I will really miss her! deb
Bill & family I am thinking of you at this sad time. It was always such a pleasure to talk with Gin . Treasure those special memories. Sincere Sympathy Sandi

To Bill and family and to Patricia and family, I am so very sorry for your loss. I know that Gin was a very special lady. I'm sorry that I will be out of town and not able to attend the service. Please know that my thoughts and prayers are with you.
Bill - how time flies! It seems like only yesterday I was a “young sprout” starting at Canada Trust and Ginny was teaching me how to be a teller. Two weeks into it and incurring cash loses of a whopping $4 she had enough of me. Off cash for me. I have lots of fond memories from those days. She was a great lady!
I recognized her picture immediately although it has likely been over 50 years since I have seen her. My parents, Bob and Ruby Plant, were good friends of the family way back when and I remember many enjoyable visits at each other's homes. Please accept my deepest sympathy and know you are in my thoughts and prayers.
A wonderful, feisty lady with a HUGE heart ! A good neighbor to my Mom and to Don. She brought Don soup and watered his outside flower pot. I am sorry for your loss Bill and to the family. She will be missed.

So sad to hear of Gin's passing. What good times we had with all the Northridge neighbours back in the day. I was thinking of you all just last week on noticing Gin and Bill's 70th anniversary notice. My sincere condolences to Bill and all the family. Oz.
