Wilhelm ‘Willi’ Hemrich

December 21, 2016

Died after a courageous battle with congenital heart failure and its consequences, with his son at his side in the late afternoon of Wednesday, December 21, 2016, in his 91st year. Willi was a loving husband to Marlene (Chmielina) for 60 years. Proud father of Reinhold Hemrich, and beloved by his granddaughter Grace Hemrich, and daughter-in-law, Michelle Flynn. Willi was a Second World War Veteran, and a Prisoner of War between 1944 and 1949. In 1956 he and Marlene immigrated to Canada, becoming Canadian citizens in 1968. He had three successful careers in Auto and Furniture Upholstery, Hair Styling and Real Estate, retiring in the early ‘90s. Willi was a warm and engaging man who enjoyed going for walks, and loved to have far-ranging, interesting, and meaningful conversations. Willi will be dearly missed, including his quirky sense of humour, by family and friends. A Celebration of Life will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London on Saturday, January 21, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Willi are asked to consider their charity of choice.
