William Douglas Schulz
October 16, 2021
It is with sadness that we share the passing of William Douglas Schulz, age 86, on October 16, 2021, in London, Ontario. Born in Pembroke, Ontario on September 10, 1935 to Helen and William Schulz, he grew up in Ottawa and Nipigon prior to joining the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 18 and served for 28 years as a CF-100 technician. He then joined Transport Canada and remained with them until retirement.
He will be missed by the love of his life, for 63 years, Betty-Ann of London (previously North Bay); daughters Susan (Ken) Nugent of London, Sharon (Peter) Allen of Allen, TX and Sandi (David) Haynes of Brampton; eight grandsons: Scott, Graham & Shaun Nugent; Michael, Thomas & Ben Allen; Alex & Andrew Haynes; one special great-granddaughter Hali Nugent; and close friends Darwin and Judy Brown of London.
Doug had a passion for all things airplanes and especially enjoyed airshows. He was an avid golfer spending countless hours at the North Bay Golf Club and enjoyed curling, pool and ham radio. Doug was an active father who created many memories with his family at the North Bay YMCA, Friday pizza nights, DQ outings and swimming at the local beaches. With Betty-Ann, the two of them enjoyed their evening walks at the North Bay Waterfront.
A private family service was held at Westview Funeral Chapel. Heartfelt appreciation for the wonderful Veteran’s Care Team of 2 Perth – nursing staff, PT’s, OT’s music and art therapists, Mary Rutten and Dr. Borrie. Memorial contributions can be shared with St. Joseph’s Health Care London (Parkwood Institute) – Veteran Care Program, London, Ontario. Please select the Veterans Care Program from the drop down menu under “Designation – Area of Care”.
