William “John” Ormsby
November 18, 1939 - November 1, 2025
It is with great sadness that the family of William John Ormsby, fondly known as “Johnny O,” announces his passing on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 85. Johnny was born in London, Ontario, on November 18, 1939, and lived a life full of laughter, love, and loyalty to those he held dear.
Johnny will be forever missed by his devoted wife of 63 years, Margaret (née Watson), who was not only his partner in life but his greatest teammate and cheerleader. He was a proud and loving father to his daughter Tammy (Brad), and a cherished grandfather to six beautiful grandchildren Katelin (Steve), Kyle (Jenn), Zachary, Meagan (Trevor), Jarrod, and Caleb (Meilu) and eight adored great-grandchildren, Ava, Clare, Elijah, Emma, Rowan, Liam, Sienna and Henry, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
Johnny spent his career with Sterling Marking Products, where his strong work ethic and easygoing nature earned him the respect and friendship of all who worked alongside him.
A lifelong sports enthusiast, Johnny not only loved the game—he played it with heart. Whether on the hockey rink, golf course, or baseball diamond, he was a true competitor who made lifelong friendships through sport. His talent and sportsmanship were matched only by his sense of humour and his ability to bring people together.
Above all, family meant everything to Johnny. He and Marg shared a partnership that was the heart of his world—she was always there, cheering him on, whether from the stands or by his side through life’s many seasons.
Johnny O will be remembered for his warmth, his wit, and the twinkle in his eye that made everyone around him feel like a friend.
A Celebration of Life service will be held on Thursday, November 6, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at Westview Funeral Home and Cremation Centre, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, Ontario, with visitation one hour prior to the service. Family and friends are warmly invited to gather, share memories, and honour a life well lived.
In lieu of flowers, the family encourages donations in Johnny’s memory to a local youth sports organization, so that his love for the game and team spirit can continue to inspire generations to come.
“Play hard, laugh often, love deeply—just like Johnny O.”

Marg and family, our sincere condolences at the loss of Johnny "O". Fortunately, there is a lot of joy and happy remembrances that will light the way ahead. It has been a privilege to know and work with Johnny for many years. Like his sporting life, Johnny always brought his "A" game and team spirit to help all of us. Even after many years of retirement Johnny continues to be remembered by the stalwarts of Sterling. Good things do not truly die but live on in our hearts. Most sincerely, Bob & Debbie Schram
