REID, Winnifred “Win” (née Buffett)

1919 – 2016

On Tuesday, August 9^th, 2016, Win Reid passed away at the age of 96. Predeceased by her husband of 60 years, Edward A. “Sandy” Reid. Survived by her three sons: John (Patti), David (Patty) and Bruce (Barbara); grandchildren: Michael (Paula), Mark (Mel), Kyle, Connor, Jim Simonelli (Toni), Richard Dalgleish (Meighan) and great-grandchildren: Summer, Caleb, Abigayle, Mason, Vayda, Georgia and Walker. Win is also survived by her sister Hetty Barrett, and brother Ron (Jeanette) Buffett, all of Toronto. Predeceased by her granddaughter, Erin Reid, along with her sister Gladys (Fred) Gunter, brothers William (Mary) Buffett and Percy (Kate) Buffett. Win was born and raised in Toronto where she worked at Mutual Life. She was married on December 9, 1944 and moved to London where Sandy started his legal career. They travelled extensively; starting with camping across Canada with their three sons. In later life, they visited many other countries. They spent their summers at the family cottage at Sand Lake in northern Muskoka, where dad puttered and mom cooked for all the family visitors. A special thank you to Dr. Parent, all the staff and volunteers at St. Joseph’s Hospice, and personal support workers Janette, Cheryl and Christine for their kind care over the past month. Cremation has taken place. The memorial service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Friday, September 16^th, 2016 at 1:00 p.m., with visitation one hour prior. Those wishing to make a donation in memory of Win are asked to consider the Multiple Sclerosis Society of London & Middlesex or St. Joseph’s Hospice (London).
