Winona Eloise (née Snell) Elliot

December 7, 2019

Passed away peacefully, to be with her Lord Jesus Christ, on Saturday, December 7, 2019, in her 94th year. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Gordon, and her sister, Lois. Loving mother of Peter (Barbara) Elliot and Catherine (John D.) Shaw; and grandmother of Blake (Kristina) and Alexander Elliot. Longtime member of Melville United Church, Ivan, where she served as organist for many years. Past Worthy Matron of Veritas Chapter, Order of the Eastern Star. Member for over twenty-five years of the Elliot Clan Society, where she enjoyed the many outings organized by the Ontario West chapter. Accomplished baker known for her butter tarts and lemon meringue pie. Avid reader of books, magazines and the daily paper including word puzzles. Intense supporter of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Keen collector of Canadian pressed glass, and particularly the hunt through antique shops and auctions for that next interesting piece. She enjoyed caring for her garden, including her favourite roses. More recently, she faithfully cheered for her Maple Leafs and Blue Jays during every televised game. Special ‘thanks’ to the staff at Chelsey Park for their dedicated care over the last fifteen years. Family will receive friends and a funeral service will be conducted at WESTVIEW FUNERAL CHAPEL, 709 Wonderland Road North, London, on Saturday, December 14, 2019 at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. In lieu of flowers, those wishing to make a donation in memory of Winona are asked to consider McIntosh Gallery at Western University, Jesse’s Journey, or Melville United Church.

My sincere condolences to Peter, Catherine and family at the loss of your dear Mom. She was a fine person and I admired her dedication to the church music ministry. She was always so pleasant and welcoming when we would visit together at church and in the community. Thinking of you at this difficult time.
